New Train Route to Antwerp
A direct train service from London to Antwerp is expected to launch soon. You skip the Brussels transfer on the outward journey. The return is not direct, so plan to change trains in Brussels on the way back. Journey time is around 3 hours. Advance one-way tickets start from about 35 GBP. Book as far ahead as you can, early services will sell out fast.
Antwerp gives you easy access to Belgian beer bars, historic sites, and the Diamond District. It also works as a base for day trips to Ghent or Bruges by local train.
Italy's Beach Season
Many of Italy's most popular beaches are located on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia. August is crowded and expensive. Sunbed and umbrella rental starts from around 20 EUR per day at busy spots. Parking at popular coves can cost from 5 EUR. Go in late September for warm sea and fewer people. Ferry tickets from mainland ports start from about 40 EUR each way for a foot passenger. Rent a scooter in advance to reach hidden coves without queuing for parking.
